Rhonda Schnare, Director
Ms. Schnare joined the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board in September 2003. Her responsibilities include representing the Board in discussions with non-U.S. regulators, assisting in the development of the Board’s international policies and providing legal advice regarding the oversight of non-U.S. audit firms that operate in U.S. capital markets.
Prior to joining the PCAOB, Ms. Schnare was Associate General Counsel at the Office of the United States Trade Representative from 1998 to 2003. During her tenure at USTR, Ms. Schnare represented the United States in numerous disputes before the World Trade Organization. She also had primary responsibility for providing legal advice on trade-related telecommunications and electronic commerce issues in connection with the negotiation of bilateral or multilateral free trade agreements between the U.S. and its trading partners.
Before joining USTR, Ms. Schnare served as an Honors Program Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice from 1993 to 1998. As a trial attorney, she represented the United States in commercial litigation and international trade cases. Ms. Schnare graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Missouri-Columbia and earned her Juris Doctor degree with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following law school, Ms. Schnare served as a law clerk to the Honorable Howard F. Sachs, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
